Rosie loves spending sunny afternoons painting at the wooden easel in her backyard, under a big oak tree. Wearing her paint-splattered yellow apron, she sets out her paint tubes in a neat row, ready to begin a landscape. But when she dips her brush into the bright blue paint, a tiny voice squeaks out: the blue tube can talk, and it has strong opinions about how the picture should look.

Soon the green and yellow tubes join in, each insisting that its own color deserves to be the star. Blue wants to stretch across the whole sky, green demands branches and leaves everywhere, and yellow begs for brighter sunshine. Rosie does not silence them; she listens patiently to every wish, then finds a way for each color to have a special part. As she paints, the colors discover that sharing the canvas and taking turns makes the landscape more beautiful than any one of them could have made alone.

This gentle children's tale is suited to young readers and to adults reading aloud with them. Through Rosie's talking paint tubes, it explores cooperation, listening to others, and the value of different perspectives, showing how imagination grows when everyone's ideas are given room.

A Chapter from the Book

The Artist's Talking Colors Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN

Rosie loved sunny afternoons in her backyard studio, which was really just a wooden easel under a big oak tree. She wore her yellow apron, splattered with every color she had ever loved. Her curly brown hair bounced as she set out her paint tubes in a neat row. Today she would paint a beautiful landscape, and she could hardly wait to begin. 1

Rosie picked up her wooden paintbrush and dipped it into the bright blue paint. Suddenly, a tiny voice squeaked, 'Finally! I get to be the sky!' Rosie blinked and looked around. The blue paint tube was wiggling its silver cap and crossing its tiny arms. 'Did you just talk?' Rosie whispered, her hazel eyes wide with surprise. 2

The blue tube puffed out its cheeks and nodded. 'Of course I talk! And I should cover the whole sky, every inch of it!' Just then, the green tube sprang up, waving its little arms. 'No, no! We need more trees!' it shouted. The yellow tube, the smallest of all, clasped its hands and begged, 'Please, can we have brighter sunshine?' 3

Rosie listened patiently to every word. Blue wanted to stretch across the entire sky, big and bold. Green wanted branches and leaves everywhere, a forest of green. Yellow wanted warm, glowing light to make everything cozy. Each color wanted to be the star of the painting, and they all talked at once. 4

Blue puffed out its cheeks and declared, 'The sky is the most important part! Without me, the picture is just a blank page!' Green waved its arms excitedly and shouted, 'Trees give the landscape life! More trees, I say!' Yellow glowed softly and whispered, 'But sunshine makes everything warm and happy.' Rosie smiled and said, 'I hear all of you.' 5

The colors kept arguing. Blue said, 'I should cover the whole top half!' Green said, 'No, I need more space for branches and leaves!' Yellow said, 'But the sun needs to shine brightly!' Rosie didn't interrupt. She just listened, her paintbrush resting in her hand. She knew that each color had a special wish, and she wanted to understand them all. 6

Rosie thought about her talking colors and their big ideas. She remembered how much she loved the sky, the trees, and the sunshine in real life. 'Maybe,' she said slowly, 'each of you can have a special part.' Blue stopped puffing. Green stopped waving. Yellow stopped glowing so brightly. They all looked at Rosie with wide, curious eyes. 7

Rosie picked up her brush and dipped it into the blue tube. 'Blue, you can have the sky, but not the whole thing. Leave some room for the sun.' Blue grumbled a little but nodded. Rosie painted a lovely blue sky, with soft, fluffy clouds. Blue watched and said, 'Well, that does look nice.' 8

Next, Rosie dipped her brush into the green tube. 'Green, you can have trees, but they need space to grow. Let's put them along the bottom and sides.' Green bounced with joy as Rosie painted leafy trees with branches stretching up. 'Oh, I love it!' Green cheered. 'More trees, just like I wanted!' 9

Finally, Rosie dipped her brush into the yellow tube. 'Yellow, you can make the sunshine bright and warm.' She painted a golden sun in the corner of the sky, with rays of light reaching down. Yellow glowed happily. 'It's so warm!' it said. 'Thank you, Rosie!' The three colors looked at the painting and smiled. 10

Rosie stepped back to look at her work. The sky was blue, the trees were green, and the sun was yellow. But something was missing. 'What about the flowers?' she asked. The colors looked at each other. 'We can share!' said Blue. 'I'll make the flowers blue.' 'And I'll make the grass green,' said Green. 'I'll add yellow petals,' said Yellow. 11

Rosie mixed the colors carefully on her palette. She painted flowers in blue and yellow, and grass in green. The colors cooperated, each taking a turn. 'This is fun!' said Blue. 'We make a great team!' said Green. 'The painting is so beautiful!' said Yellow. Rosie's heart felt full as she watched her talking colors work together. 12

When the painting was finished, Rosie hung it on the wall. The landscape was balanced and lovely, with a blue sky, green trees, and a bright yellow sun. The colors sat on the shelf, tired but happy. 'We all got to be in the picture,' said Blue. 'And it looks better because we shared,' said Green. 'Cooperation is the best,' said Yellow. 13

Rosie smiled at her talking colors. 'You know,' she said, 'listening to all of you made my imagination stronger. Each of your ideas helped make the painting more beautiful.' The colors cheered. 'We learned that different perspectives make things better!' said Blue. 'And we couldn't have done it without Rosie,' added Green. Yellow glowed warmly in agreement. 14

From that day on, Rosie always listened to her colors before painting. Sometimes they still argued, but they always found a way to share. Blue would suggest a big sky, Green would ask for more trees, and Yellow would beg for brighter sunshine. Rosie would mix their ideas with care, and together they created balanced, beautiful paintings. 15

And if you ever visit Rosie's studio, you might hear tiny voices chattering. 'More blue!' 'More green!' 'More yellow!' And Rosie's gentle voice saying, 'Let's listen to each other.' Her talking colors celebrate the joy of cooperation, and every painting they make together is a celebration of imagination and teamwork.
