On a rainy Saturday, Mia discovers a dusty notebook with a cracked leather cover on a forgotten bookstore shelf. Its pages hold stories that stop halfway through, and when she reads the first line aloud, the shelves spin around her and she steps into a land where nothing has been finished: flowers are only half drawn, the sky is colored in patches, and three characters are waiting for something to happen. Sir Bramble is a knight with dented armour and no quest, Detective Wren has a magnifying glass but no mystery, and Princess Poppy carries the blueprint for a castle that was never built.

Mia introduces herself and offers to help, and together the four of them begin to look for endings. A tiny dragon trapped in a bramble bush gives Sir Bramble his first quest, a handful of stones and twigs becomes Princess Poppy's friendly castle by the stream, and a trail of small clues leads Detective Wren to a hidden cave behind a waterfall, where a glowing pen can write endings only when the friends write together. When the land grows colorful again, the notebook still has empty pages, and the group discovers that the truest endings come from telling their own stories and listening to one another.

This illustrated tale is written for young readers of roughly six to ten years and for anyone reading aloud at bedtime. Through Mia and her new friends, it explores creativity, cooperation and the confidence to speak in your own voice, showing that a story, like a friendship, grows when everyone is invited to take part.

A Chapter from the Book

The Land of Unfinished Stories Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN

Mia loved bookstores more than almost anywhere. One rainy Saturday, she found a dusty shelf and pulled out a notebook with a cracked leather cover. When she opened it, the pages were filled with stories that stopped halfway through. Mia read the first line aloud, and the floor began to glow. Suddenly, the bookstore shelves spun around her like a carousel, and she stepped into a land of unfinished stories. 1

Mia landed in a meadow of half-drawn flowers, where the sky was only colored in patches. A tall knight in dented silver armour stood beside a blank shield, looking puzzled. 'I am Sir Bramble,' he said, 'but I have no quest.' Mia smiled. 'Maybe we can find one,' she said. 'I'm Mia, and I'm here to help.' The knight's green cloak fluttered in the breeze. 2

They walked until they met a detective in a long tan trench coat. Detective Wren held a magnifying glass and frowned. 'I'm looking for a mystery,' she said, 'but this land has none.' Mia introduced herself and Sir Bramble. 'We're looking for stories,' Mia explained. 'The notebook brought me here.' Detective Wren's eyes lit up. 'Then we have a case to solve together,' she declared, pulling out a small notebook and pencil. 3

Next, they found Princess Poppy sitting on a rock, unrolling a blueprint for a castle that was never built. 'I have the plans,' she sighed, 'but no castle.' Mia looked at the three brave characters and felt a warm spark. 'Maybe we can help each other,' she said. 'Every story needs an ending, and every voice deserves to be heard.' Sir Bramble nodded, and Detective Wren started scribbling ideas. 4

Mia took out the old notebook and showed them how the stories stopped. 'What if we write our own endings?' she asked. Sir Bramble shook his head. 'I don't know how.' Detective Wren tapped her magnifying glass. 'Then we'll investigate.' Princess Poppy smiled. 'I have a pencil.' Mia gave it to her. 'Let's start with a small ending for each of us.' They all agreed, and the ground beneath them sparkled. 5

Sir Bramble needed a quest. Detective Wren searched for clues. 'What do you love most?' she asked him. 'Protecting people,' he said. Just then, they heard a squeak. A tiny dragon was stuck in a bramble bush! Sir Bramble drew his wooden sword and gently parted the branches. 'I will rescue you,' he said. The dragon hugged his leg. 'That's a perfect quest!' Mia cheered. 6

Princess Poppy still dreamed of a castle. 'What kind of castle?' asked Detective Wren. 'A friendly one,' Poppy said. 'With a garden and a library.' Mia suggested they build a small model from stones and twigs. Together they gathered materials, and Sir Bramble carried the heaviest rocks. Wren figured out the best spot by the stream. Poppy sketched a flag. Soon a little castle stood proudly on the grass. 7

Detective Wren needed a mystery. 'Maybe the mystery is why the stories stopped,' she said. They followed clues: a dropped bookmark, a missing page number, a whisper of wind. The trail led to a hidden cave behind a waterfall. Inside, they found a glowing pen. 'This pen can write endings!' said Mia. 'But it only works if we write together.' They each took turns holding it. 8

With the pen, they wrote a new quest for Sir Bramble: to guard the land with kindness. They wrote a mystery for Detective Wren: to find lost stories and return them. They wrote a castle for Princess Poppy: a place where everyone is welcome. The words shimmered, and the land around them grew more colorful. The half-drawn flowers bloomed, and the sky filled in. 9

But something was missing. The notebook still had empty pages. 'We need to fill them,' said Mia. 'With our own stories.' They sat in a circle and took turns telling tales. Sir Bramble told of a brave knight who learned to ask for help. Detective Wren told of a clever detective who solved problems with friends. Princess Poppy told of a castle built on kindness. Mia told of a girl who found magic in a bookstore. 10

As they shared, the pages filled with words and pictures, and a warm light surrounded them. 'We did it!' Mia cried. The characters hugged each other. 'But we couldn't have done it without you, Mia,' said Sir Bramble. 'You helped us find our voices.' Detective Wren nodded. 'Every voice deserves to be heard, just like you said.' They cheered, and the land sparkled brighter than ever. 11

Mia knew it was time to go. 'Will you come back?' asked Princess Poppy. 'I'll try,' Mia promised. She tucked the notebook into her satchel. 'Remember, your stories can keep growing.' Sir Bramble gave her a brave salute. Detective Wren handed her a small notebook as a gift. 'For your own stories,' she said. Poppy gave her a paper crown. 'So you always remember you're part of ours.' 12

The floor glowed again, and Mia found herself back in the bookstore. The old notebook was still in her hands, now full of new stories. She hugged it tight and ran home to write. From that day on, she always finished her stories, and she always left room for new endings. 13

At home, Mia opened her new notebook and began to write. She wrote about Sir Bramble, Detective Wren, and Princess Poppy. She wrote about the Land of Unfinished Stories and how friendship made it whole. She drew a knight with a green cloak, a detective with a magnifying glass, and a princess with a paper crown.
