Mia loved mornings best. After breakfast, she spread her craft supplies across the kitchen table: paper, glue, and her favorite silver scissors with a tiny star charm. Her curly dark-brown hair bounced as she snipped shapes. Today, she wanted to make something special for the school celebration. She hummed a little tune while she worked, and her blue ribbon swayed like a happy flag. 1

Mia picked up her scissors and began to cut a sheet of bright red paper. Snip, snip, la, la! The scissors seemed to sing. Mia froze. Did she hear that? She cut again. Snip, snip, la, la! A little melody floated up like a bubble. The scissors' purple handles wiggled, and tiny music notes sparkled around the blades. Mia gasped. "You can sing!" 2

The scissors' little eyes on the pivot screw twinkled. They cut a curvy line, and the tune went up and down like a slide. Mia laughed and clapped. She tried a straight cut: snip, snip, la, la! Then a zigzag: snip, snip, la, la, la! Each cut made a different happy sound. Mia's round freckled cheeks glowed. This was the best craft day ever. She couldn't wait to show someone. 3

At school, Mia found her friend Leo in the art corner. He was tall and energetic, with a big grin that showed a tiny gap between his front teeth. "Leo, listen!" Mia whispered. She pulled out her scissors and cut a small paper star. Snip, snip, la, la! Leo's dark eyes went wide. "Your scissors sing!" he shouted. "Shh!" Mia giggled. "It's our secret for now." 4

Ms. Rosa, their teacher, called the class to attention. She wore her teal cardigan and round glasses, and her warm smile made everyone listen. "Our school celebration is next week," she said. "We need decorations. Who would like to help?" Mia's hand shot up. "I can make paper decorations!" she said. Ms. Rosa nodded. "Wonderful, Mia. I knew I could count on your imagination." 5

After school, Mia and Leo sat on Mia's porch. Mia cut paper into long, curly ribbons. Snip, snip, la, la! The scissors sang a happy tune. Leo clapped along. "Let's make a garland," Mia said. She cut out paper circles, and Leo strung them on yarn. With every snip, the music grew. The scissors sparkled, and tiny notes danced in the air. They worked until the sun went down. 6

The next day, Mia brought her musical scissors to school again. She cut paper flowers with petals that curled just so. Snip, snip, la, la! The scissors sang a waltz. Leo hung the flowers along the classroom wall. "This is going to be the best celebration ever," he said. Mia nodded, but then she frowned. "What if the scissors stop singing?" she worried. 7

At home that evening, Mia tried to cut a paper heart. But the scissors were silent. No snip, snip, la, la. No sparkles. Mia's smile faded. She cut again, but only a quiet snip. "What's wrong?" she whispered. The scissors' little eyes looked sad. Mia felt a lump in her throat. Maybe the magic was gone forever. She set the scissors down and sighed. 8

The next morning, Mia told Leo about the silent scissors. "Maybe they're just tired," Leo said. "Or maybe they need a rest." Mia shook her head. "But the celebration is tomorrow!" She looked at the pile of plain paper. Without the music, cutting felt ordinary. Leo patted her shoulder. "Don't worry. We'll figure it out." Mia wasn't so sure. 9

Mia sat alone at the craft table, feeling glum. She picked up the scissors and cut a tiny triangle. Suddenly, a faint hum. She cut again. A soft la! Then a little snip! The scissors began to sing, quietly at first, then louder. Snip, snip, la, la! Mia's eyes lit up. "You're back!" she cheered. The scissors sparkled brightly. Maybe they just needed a little break. 10

Mia realized that the scissors sang best when she was happy and relaxed. She took a deep breath and smiled. "Let's make the most beautiful decorations ever," she said. She cut paper into butterflies, stars, and flowers. Snip, snip, la, la! The music filled the room. Leo came over and clapped. "That's it! The scissors just needed you to believe in them." Mia nodded. "And I needed to believe in myself." 11

On the day of the celebration, Mia and Leo arrived early. They hung paper garlands across the ceiling, butterflies on the windows, and flowers around the stage. With every cut, the scissors sang a merry tune. Snip, snip, la, la! The classroom turned into a wonderland of color and music. Ms. Rosa beamed. "Mia, this is magnificent!" she said. "You've made our celebration truly special." 12

The celebration began. Children gasped at the beautiful decorations. "Look at the singing scissors!" someone shouted. Mia demonstrated, cutting a paper star. Snip, snip, la, la! The scissors sang, and the star bloomed in her hand. Everyone clapped along. Leo grinned his gap-toothed grin. "Mia's scissors make music!" he announced. Ms. Rosa praised Mia's creativity. Mia felt proud and happy. 13

After the celebration, Ms. Rosa asked Mia to show the class how she made the decorations. Mia held up her scissors. "These are my musical scissors," she said. "They sing while they cut. But the real magic is imagination." She cut a paper heart, and the scissors sang a sweet note. The class clapped. Mia smiled.
