One morning a tiny carousel no bigger than a bathtub appears in Coral Square, its golden seahorses sparkling in the water. The lead seahorse, Pip, wears a red harness with a silver bell and carries young riders through a tunnel of bubbles to the Bright Garden, a place of glowing anemones and dancing shrimp. The first to climb on is Lila, a hermit crab with a pink spiral shell and a seaweed satchel, and word of her ride quickly spreads among the little fish and crabs of the square.
Soon other sea creatures take their turn, among them Finn, a round pufferfish in a striped scarf who loves the rides most of all and shouts with delight as he puffs up like a submarine. Granny Coral, an old sea turtle wearing a string of tiny shells, watches from her rock and observes that every ride makes a new friendship. Then one afternoon the carousel shudders and cracks: the central wheel stops turning and the music dies, leaving the seahorses frozen in place.
Rather than give up, Pip, Lila, Finn and Granny Coral set to work together, with Lila's spare shell pin, Finn's strength and a shared song to keep their spirits up. The story shows young readers how a community can mend what is broken when everyone contributes what they have, and it celebrates friendship, patience and the small treasures gathered along the way. It suits children beginning to read longer stories and adults looking for a gentle bedtime tale.

One morning, a tiny carousel appeared in Coral Square. It was no bigger than a bathtub, with golden seahorses that sparkled in the water. Each seahorse wore a little saddle and a bright harness. The smallest one had a golden-orange body, amber eyes, and a red harness with a silver bell. His name was Pip. All the little fish and crabs gathered around, whispering with excitement. 1
Pip was the lead seahorse on the carousel. He had tiny turquoise fins and a curled tail that held a blue ribbon. When he shook his head, the silver bell on his harness jingled. 'Climb on!' Pip called to the little sea creatures. 'I will take you to the brightest garden under the sea.' A tiny hermit crab named Lila stepped forward. She had a pink spiral shell and a seaweed satchel. 2
Lila climbed onto Pip's saddle and held the blue ribbon reins. 'Ready?' asked Pip. 'Ready!' said Lila. The carousel began to spin, and the water swirled with colors. Pip swam up, up, up, through a tunnel of bubbles. Lila laughed as they zoomed past swaying kelp and sleepy starfish. In moments, they arrived at a garden full of glowing anemones and dancing shrimp. 3
The garden was called the Bright Garden. It shimmered with pink and orange corals. Tiny lantern fish lit up the path. 'This is amazing!' Lila said. Pip smiled. 'Every seahorse on the carousel goes to a different garden,' he explained. 'Mine is the brightest.' Lila looked around with wide eyes. She wished she could stay forever, but she knew the ride would soon end. 4
Back at Coral Square, Lila told everyone about her adventure. A round pufferfish named Finn listened with excitement. He wore a striped blue-and-white scarf around his middle. 'Can I go next?' he asked. Pip nodded. 'Of course!' Finn puffed up with joy, which made him look even rounder. He climbed on, and off they went to a garden of wavy sea grass and friendly seahorses. 5
Each day, more little creatures rode the carousel. They visited the Bright Garden, the Sea Grass Maze, and the Crystal Cove. Granny Coral, an old wise sea turtle, watched from her favorite rock. She wore a string of tiny shells and a woven kelp shawl. 'The carousel brings us together,' she said. 'Every ride makes a new friendship.' The whole square buzzed with happiness. 6
Finn loved the rides the most. He made everyone laugh by puffing up like a balloon. 'I'm a submarine!' he shouted as they zoomed through the water. Lila collected little treasures from each garden: a shiny pebble, a smooth shell, a piece of sea glass. She kept them in her seaweed satchel. 'For luck,' she said. Pip's silver bell jingled merrily with every trip. 7
One sunny afternoon, the carousel began to wobble. Pip felt a strange shudder beneath his saddle. Then—crack! The central wheel stopped turning. The seahorses froze in place. The music slowed and died. 'Oh no!' cried Lila. 'The carousel is broken!' The little creatures looked at each other with worried eyes. What would they do without their beloved rides? 8
Pip swam around the carousel. He saw that the central wheel had a big crack in its wooden spokes. 'The wheel is broken,' he announced. 'We need to fix it.' Finn puffed up. 'I can lift heavy things!' he said. Lila opened her satchel. 'I have spare parts,' she said. Granny Coral nodded slowly. 'We will all help,' she said. 'Together, we can mend it.' 9
Lila examined the crack. 'We need something strong to hold it together,' she said. She rummaged in her satchel and pulled out a long, shiny shell pin. 'This might work!' she said. Finn puffed up and lifted a heavy piece of driftwood. 'Where should I put this?' he asked. Pip directed everyone. 'Over here!' he called. 'And here!' The repair had begun. 10
Granny Coral began to hum an old carousel song. The tune was slow and cheerful. 'Sing along!' she said. Soon, everyone was humming and singing. Finn puffed up to the size of a beach ball and lifted a big shell. Lila pushed the pin into place. Pip held the wheel steady. The little creatures worked together, their voices rising in a happy chorus. 11
With a final push, the shell pin slid into the crack. The wheel felt strong and steady. 'Let's test it!' said Pip. He swam a small circle, and the wheel turned smoothly. 'It works!' everyone cheered. Finn did a happy somersault, and Lila clapped her claws. Granny Coral smiled. 'You did it,' she said. 'Teamwork and friendship fixed the carousel.' 12
The next day, the carousel spun again. The music played, and the seahorses bobbed up and down. Lila climbed onto Pip's saddle. 'Ready for another adventure?' she asked. 'Always!' said Pip. They zoomed through the water, and Finn followed on another seahorse. 'Wait for me!' he called. The whole square was filled with laughter and jingling bells. 13
From that day on, the carousel was busier than ever. Its central wheel was patched with Lila's shell pin, a reminder of their teamwork. Granny Coral told the story to every new visitor. 'They fixed it together,' she said. 'That's what friends do.' Pip jingled his silver bell. 'Every ride is better with friends,' he said. And everyone agreed.
