A Chapter from the Book
Crystal Kingdom Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN
In Crystal Kingdom, every house, bridge, and garden glowed with magical crystals. They twinkled like stars, and their light kept the whole land warm and cheerful. Prince Leo, a curious boy with tousled black hair and a red cape, loved to watch them sparkle. He often skipped along the crystal paths, greeting everyone he met. Life in the kingdom was bright and happy. 1
One morning, Leo woke to find the crystals flickering. First they dimmed, then they turned dull gray. The fountains stopped shimmering, and the forges grew cold. People gathered in the square, whispering worriedly. Leo touched a gray crystal and felt a chill. He knew he had to find out what was wrong. The kingdom needed its light. 2
Leo hurried to the castle library and found an old scroll. It said the crystals were linked to four guardians: Ruby of fire, Pearl of water, Moss of earth, and Sky of air. Long ago, they had stopped speaking, and the crystals began to fade. Only a kind heart could reunite them by solving ancient riddles. Leo took a deep breath and set off. 3
Leo's first stop was the fiery forge, where Guardian Ruby stood tall with crimson shard shoulders. Ruby's glowing red eyes looked sad and lonely. 'I have no one to share my fire with,' Ruby sighed. Leo noticed a riddle carved on the forge door: 'What grows warmer when it is shared?' He thought hard, then smiled. 'Friendship!' he said. 4
Ruby's eyes flickered with surprise. 'Perhaps you are right,' Ruby said softly. Leo asked Ruby to help him light the dark forges so the blacksmiths could work. Ruby agreed, and together they shared the fire. The forge roared to life, and a few crystals nearby glowed a little brighter. Leo thanked Ruby and promised to visit again soon. 5
Next, Leo visited the quiet fountains where Guardian Pearl tended the water. Pearl's pearly skin shimmered, but her blue eyes were shy. 'I have nothing to say to the others,' she whispered. A riddle was etched on the fountain's edge: 'What can you give away and still keep?' Leo grinned. 'A kind word!' he said. Pearl looked up, surprised. 6
Pearl smiled for the first time in days. 'A kind word,' she repeated. Leo asked her to help him water the thirsty gardens, and she nodded. As they worked, Pearl spoke gently to the flowers, and they perked up. The water sparkled, and more crystals began to glow. Pearl promised to speak kindly to the other guardians. Leo waved goodbye, feeling hopeful. 7
Leo found Guardian Moss in the wilting gardens, grumpy and round with twig-like hair. 'No one appreciates my plants,' Moss muttered. A riddle was written in the dirt: 'What makes a heavy heart lighter?' Leo thought of all the kind deeds he had done. 'A friend's help!' he said. Moss's brown eyes widened. 'Help?' he mumbled. 8
Moss scratched his leafy belt. 'I suppose I could use some help,' he said. Leo and Moss planted new seeds and pulled weeds together. Moss even laughed when a butterfly landed on his nose. The garden began to bloom, and crystals glowed brighter. Moss agreed to visit the other guardians and share his flowers. Leo felt a warm glow inside. 9
Leo had solved three riddles, but the crystals were still not fully bright. He realized the fourth guardian, Sky of air, was missing. Leo climbed the highest tower and called out. A soft breeze wrapped around him, and a voice whispered, 'What brings people together?' Leo remembered all the sharing, kind words, and help. 'Friendship!' he shouted. 10
A gentle wind lifted Leo and carried him to the central square. There, Ruby, Pearl, and Moss were waiting, looking uncertain. Leo told them the answer to the final riddle. 'Friendship brings everyone together,' he said. The guardians looked at each other and smiled. Ruby shared her fire to warm them, Pearl offered cool water, and Moss gave flowers to everyone. 11
As the guardians talked and laughed, the crystals began to shine. First a soft glow, then a bright sparkle, until the whole kingdom blazed with light. The guardians realized how much they had missed each other. They promised to meet every week to share stories and help one another. Leo's heart swelled with joy as the kingdom sparkled brighter than ever. 12
From that day on, the guardians worked together. Ruby's forge warmed the houses, Pearl's fountains sparkled, Moss's gardens bloomed, and Sky's breezes carried seeds and songs. The crystals shone with a rainbow of colors. People came from far away to see the happy kingdom. Leo knew that kindness and friendship had brought the magic back. 13
Leo often visited the guardians, and they became the best of friends. They solved problems together and shared everything. The crystals never turned gray again. Leo learned that when people share, speak kindly, and help each other, even the dullest day can become bright. And that, he thought, is the greatest magic of all. 14
The kingdom celebrated with a festival of light. Everyone danced and sang under the glowing crystals. Leo stood with the four guardians, feeling proud and happy. He knew that unity made their community strong. The crystals sparkled as if they were laughing, and the whole land was filled with warmth and joy. 15
And so, Crystal Kingdom remained a place of shining light and friendship. Prince Leo grew up knowing that kindness could solve any riddle and mend any friendship. The guardians never forgot the little prince who brought them back together.
