The Chocolate Volcano Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN
In a tiny valley, a chocolate volcano bubbled day and night. Instead of hot lava, it poured out warm, sweet chocolate. The villagers, who were all miniature bakers, used it to make yummy desserts. Poppy, a young baker with curly ginger hair in two bouncing buns, loved helping her Grandpa Bernard. She always tucked her wooden spoon in her sky-blue apron pocket, ready for any chocolate adventure. 1
Every morning, the villagers lined up with buckets and bowls to collect fresh chocolate. Poppy and Grandpa Bernard, with his fluffy white moustache and kind grey eyes, ran the busiest bakery in the valley. They baked chocolate cakes, cookies, and pies. "One day, Poppy, you'll be the best baker in the village," Grandpa said, dusting flour from his mustard cardigan. Poppy beamed and stirred her chocolate batter. 2
But one morning, the volcano began to bubble strangely. The chocolate sputtered and hissed, rising higher and higher. "Grandpa, look!" cried Poppy, pointing at the overflowing chocolate. Grandpa Bernard frowned, his bushy moustache twitching. "I've never seen it do that before," he said. "We must warn everyone!" Poppy grabbed her wooden spoon and ran to the village square, her heart pounding. 3
In the square, the villagers gathered, worried. The chocolate was now bubbling over the edges of the volcano and streaming down the slopes. "We need to stop it before it floods our homes!" shouted a baker. Poppy remembered the underground pipes that carried the chocolate to the village. She had an idea. "I'll check the pipes!" she said bravely. "Maybe something is blocking them." 4
Poppy hurried to the pipe entrance, a small tunnel at the base of the volcano. She peeked inside and saw a tiny, glossy creature with caramel-gold eyes and wings like sugar crystals. It was Pip, a chocolate sprite who lived in the pipes. "Poppy!" Pip squeaked, fluttering his tiny wings. "Hardened caramel is stuck in the pipes! The chocolate can't flow, so it's bubbling out of control!" 5
Poppy knew she couldn't fix this alone. She ran to find Engineer Mabel, the village's chief engineer. Mabel was tall and sturdy, with short black hair with silver streaks and a small scar on her chin. She wore green overalls with gold buttons and an orange hard hat. "Mabel, the chocolate volcano is blocked!" Poppy explained. "We need a plan to clear the pipes!" 6
Mabel listened carefully, her amber eyes sharp. "We'll need teamwork," she said, adjusting her tool belt. "Pip can guide us through the tunnels. Poppy, you know the chocolate's flow. I'll bring my crew and tools." She called the village engineers, who arrived with shovels, wrenches, and big smiles. "Let's save our village!" Mabel declared, and everyone cheered. 7
Pip led the way through the dark, chocolate-scented tunnels. His sugar-crystal wings glowed softly, lighting the path. "Watch your step!" he chirped, flying ahead. "The caramel is just around this bend!" Poppy, Mabel, and the engineers followed closely. The tunnel walls were sticky with sweet chocolate. "I've never seen caramel this hard," Mabel said, tapping the blockage with her wrench. 8
Back at the village, Grandpa Bernard organized the bakers. "We'll build a chocolate wall to protect our homes!" he announced. The bakers scooped up buckets of chocolate and piled them into a barrier. "Work together!" Grandpa called, his glasses glinting. "Poppy and Mabel will fix the volcano!" The villagers worked quickly, their hands sticky but their hearts brave. 9
In the tunnel, Mabel studied the caramel blockage. "We need to melt it," she said. "But we can't use fire—it would burn the chocolate." Poppy thought hard. "What about warm water?" she suggested. "We can heat water and pour it on the caramel!" Mabel grinned. "Brilliant, Poppy! Let's do it!" The engineers hurried to fetch warm water from the village. 10
The team worked together. Some engineers carried buckets of warm water, while others kept the chocolate from spilling over. Poppy poured the warm water slowly onto the caramel. Slowly, the hard caramel began to soften and melt away. "It's working!" Pip cheered, doing a happy flip. "Keep going!" Mabel encouraged, wiping her brow. The caramel dripped away, and the chocolate began to flow again. 11
With the pipes clear, the chocolate flowed smoothly back into the volcano. The bubbling stopped. The villagers cheered as the volcano returned to its gentle, warm flow. Poppy and Mabel emerged from the tunnel, covered in chocolate but grinning from ear to ear. "You did it!" Grandpa Bernard cried, hugging Poppy. "Teamwork saved the day!" 12
That evening, the village held a big celebration. There were chocolate cakes, cookies, and pies everywhere. Poppy received a special medal for her quick thinking. "You were brave and clever," Mabel said, shaking Poppy's hand. "And you taught us that working together is the best way to solve problems." Pip sat on Poppy's shoulder, munching a chocolate chip. 13
Grandpa Bernard raised a glass of chocolate milk. "To Poppy and Mabel, and to all of us who worked as a team!" Everyone cheered. Poppy smiled, her hazel eyes sparkling. She knew that even the stickiest problems could be solved with courage and cooperation. The chocolate volcano flowed happily again, and the village of miniature bakers lived sweetly ever after. 14
Poppy learned that being prepared and working together can turn a big problem into a sweet success. She kept her wooden spoon close, ready for the next adventure. And whenever the chocolate volcano bubbled, the villagers knew they could count on each other. The tiny valley remained a place of joy, chocolate, and friendship.
