🎧 Listen to the Story · 7:11

Mira loves the night sky more than anything, and every evening she climbs to her rooftop observatory with her brass telescope and a warm cup of tea. One night a small parcel arrives on her doorstep: a palm-sized teapot with a stout round belly, glossy black eyes and a red knitted scarf around its middle. When Mira sets it on her desk, the teapot begins to puff steam that is anything but ordinary — tiny glowing stars, swirling galaxies and familiar constellations form in the mist.

At first Mira suspects a trick or a toy, but as the patterns grow clearer she compares them with her star charts and finds they match the real sky exactly. She sketches the Big Dipper, the Whirlpool Galaxy and Orion's Belt, then brings her drawings to Professor Orin at the university. Rather than laughing, the professor agrees to observe with her, and together they watch the little teapot puff real star formations night after night.

The story follows Mira as curiosity turns into serious study: reading books, drawing charts and spending hours at her telescope while the teapot offers encouragement and new patterns to explore. It is a gentle tale for young readers about wonder, observation and the joy of learning, and about how a puzzling discovery can inspire a lifelong interest in the stars. Mira's patient note-taking and the professor's respectful response show children that asking questions and looking closely are the first steps toward understanding.

Mira loved the night sky more than anything. Every evening, she climbed to her rooftop observatory with her brass telescope and a warm cup of tea. She wore her navy blue astronomer coat with gold buttons and a mustard scarf against the chill. Her curly black hair was always in a loose bun, and her round glasses reflected the stars. She wondered about the galaxies far, far away. 1

One evening, Mira found a small parcel on her doorstep. Inside was a teapot, small enough to fit in her palm. It had a stout round belly, a tiny spout nose, and big glossy black eyes. A red knitted scarf was wrapped around its middle, and a brass tag hung from its lid. Mira smiled. "A teapot with a scarf? How silly!" 2

She set the teapot on her desk and forgot about it. But while she was adjusting her telescope, she heard a soft puff. She turned around. Steam was curling out of the teapot's spout, but it wasn't ordinary steam. Tiny glowing dots swirled inside it, like little stars. Mira gasped. "What in the world?" The teapot's glossy eyes seemed to twinkle. 3

Mira leaned closer. The steam puffed again, and this time she saw tiny galaxies spinning in the mist. Swirls of pink and blue and gold danced around each other. "That's impossible," she whispered. She reached out a finger, but the steam just tickled her skin. The teapot puffed again, as if it were laughing. Mira couldn't believe her eyes. 4

At first, Mira thought it was a silly trick. Maybe a toy? But the teapot kept puffing, and the patterns grew clearer. Tiny stars twinkled in the steam, and little spiral shapes spun like tiny whirlpools. "You're a strange little thing," Mira said. The teapot's spout wiggled. It seemed to enjoy her wonder. She decided to watch a little longer. 5

The next night, Mira brought her star charts to the desk. She wanted to compare the steam patterns with the real sky. The teapot puffed a big cloud, and inside it, seven bright dots formed a familiar shape. Mira's eyes went wide. "That's the Big Dipper!" she cried. She checked her chart. It was exactly the same. Her heart beat fast with excitement. 6

The teapot puffed again. This time, a swirling spiral appeared in the steam. Mira recognized it from her books. "The Whirlpool Galaxy!" she breathed. She quickly sketched the pattern in her notebook. The teapot seemed to nod. It puffed a new shape: a triangle of stars. Mira laughed. "Orion's Belt!" she said. The teapot's eyes sparkled. 7

Mira spent the whole night watching the teapot. Each puff showed a different constellation or galaxy. Some she knew, and some she didn't. She wrote down every pattern, her curly hair falling into her eyes. "How do you know all this?" she asked. The teapot just puffed a tiny heart shape and wiggled its handle. Mira felt a warm glow of wonder. 8

The next morning, Mira hurried to the university. She found Professor Orin in his office, surrounded by books. He wore his plum cardigan and round spectacles on a chain. "Professor!" she said. "You won't believe what I found." She showed him her sketches. He adjusted his glasses and studied them carefully. "These are accurate star formations," he said. "Where did you see them?" 9

Mira told him about the teapot. Professor Orin listened with kind dark eyes. He didn't laugh. "Wonder is a wonderful thing," he said. "Let's observe together." That evening, they climbed to Mira's observatory. The teapot was waiting. When it saw two people, it puffed a huge cloud of steam. Tiny galaxies swirled inside, and Professor Orin gasped. 10

"Remarkable!" Professor Orin said. He pulled out his worn notebook and began comparing the steam patterns with his star charts. "Look, the steam matches the night sky exactly," he said. "This little teapot is showing us real star formations." Mira nodded. "But how?" she asked. The teapot puffed a tiny question mark, then a smiling face. It seemed to say, "Keep wondering!" 11

Professor Orin smiled. "Maybe the teapot is a reminder that wonder can inspire learning," he said. "When we are curious, we want to explore and understand." Mira looked at the teapot. Its red scarf seemed to glow in the starlight. She realized that the teapot wasn't just a trick; it was a teacher. "I want to learn everything about the stars," she said. 12

From that night on, Mira studied harder than ever. She read books, drew charts, and spent hours at her telescope. The teapot puffed encouragement every evening, showing new patterns to explore. Professor Orin visited often, and they would discuss their discoveries. Mira's wonder grew into a deep love of learning. She even started teaching others about the stars. 13

One evening, Mira invited her neighbors to a star party. She set up her telescope and placed the teapot on a table. When the guests arrived, the teapot puffed a beautiful cloud of tiny galaxies. Everyone gasped with wonder. Mira pointed out the real constellations in the sky, and the teapot's steam matched them perfectly. The children asked questions, and Mira answered with a smile. 14

Professor Orin came to the star party too. He watched Mira teach with pride. "You see," he said, "wonder is the beginning of all learning. That little teapot reminded us to stay curious." Mira nodded. She looked at the teapot, which puffed a tiny star-shaped cloud. She knew she would never stop wondering. The universe was full of mysteries, and she wanted to explore them all.
