Sophie loves spending time at her Gran's cottage at the edge of town, and on a rainy afternoon she discovers something extraordinary: a small, dusty round window tucked behind a bookshelf in the upstairs hall. Instead of the garden, the glass shows a sunny meadow full of yellow flowers. Gran explains that the window has always been special, showing something new every morning, and nobody knows why. Curious and determined, Sophie begins keeping a notebook, drawing and describing what she sees each day while Pip, Gran's plump little sparrow, keeps her company on the sill.
Day after day the window reveals different worlds: a green forest with a silver stream, a snowy hill with a smoking cottage, golden leaves swirling in the wind, pink blossoms on a twisted tree. At first the changes seem random, but when Gran gently suggests that Sophie look at her notes all together, Sophie lines up her drawings and makes a startling discovery. The window is showing the four seasons, turning round and round in the same order. A dream of a wide green valley helps her understand where this place might be, and soon she spots someone small and slender in the corner of the view, a valley keeper with moss-green hair and a crown of blossoms.
Then one morning something goes wrong: the blossoms on the keeper's crown droop and fade, and the seasons seem stuck. The story follows Sophie as she observes, records, and thinks like a careful scientist, learning that patience and close attention can reveal patterns hidden in plain sight. Young readers who enjoy gentle fantasy, curious heroines, and stories about nature's rhythms will find much to love here.

A Chapter from the Book
The Mystery Window Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN
Sophie loved visiting Gran's cottage at the edge of town. One rainy afternoon, she found a small window tucked behind a bookshelf in the upstairs hall. It was round and dusty, with a brass frame that felt warm to the touch. When Sophie peeked through the glass, she gasped. Instead of the garden, she saw a sunny meadow full of yellow flowers. "Gran!" she called. "Your window is showing the wrong outside!" 1
Gran climbed the stairs with her teacup in hand and smiled at the dusty round window. "That window has always been a bit special," she said, her blue eyes twinkling behind her glasses. "It shows something new every morning. Nobody knows why." Sophie pressed her nose to the glass and watched butterflies drift over the meadow. Pip, Gran's plump little sparrow, hopped onto the sill and chirped loudly at the flowers. 2
The next morning, Sophie raced upstairs before breakfast. The window showed something completely different! Now it was a green forest with tall trees and a winding silver stream. A tiny bird like Pip splashed in the water. "It changed!" Sophie cried. Pip landed on her shoulder and chirped as if to say, of course it did. Sophie pulled a small spiral notebook and pencil from her pocket. "I will write down everything I see," she said. 3
On the third day, the window showed a snowy hill with a little cottage puffing smoke from its chimney. Sophie drew the white drifts and the grey sky in her notebook. She wrote: cold, white, quiet. Pip puffed up his brown-and-white feathers and chirped at the falling flakes. "Yesterday was green and warm," Sophie said, tapping her pencil. "Today is white and cold. This is a very strange window indeed." 4
Day after day, Sophie kept her notes. She drew golden leaves swirling in the wind, then pink blossoms on a twisted tree, then a hot yellow field buzzing with bees. Each morning she added the colors and weather to her notebook. Pip perched on the pages and tilted his head at her drawings. "It seems random," Sophie told Gran. "Hot, cold, green, white, all mixed up!" Gran smiled and stirred her tea. 5
"Maybe you should look at your notes all together," Gran suggested gently. So Sophie spread her drawings across the kitchen table. She lined them up in order: snowy hill, pink blossoms, hot field, golden leaves, then snow again. She stared and stared. Her hazel eyes went wide. "Gran!" she shouted. "It's not random at all! It's a pattern! Look, the seasons are going round and round!" 6
Sophie counted the drawings carefully. Snow, blossoms, hot sun, falling leaves, then snow again. Four kinds of days, repeating in the same order, over and over. "The window is showing the four seasons!" she said. Pip hopped onto the table and chirped at the snowy picture. "But the seasons here don't change this fast," Sophie said, frowning. "So where is this place?" She chewed her pencil and thought hard. 7
That night, Sophie dreamed of the window. In her dream, the glass shimmered and pulled her forward. She saw a wide green valley with mountains around it, and the seasons rolled across it like waves. Spring flowers bloomed, summer sun blazed, autumn leaves tumbled, and winter snow fell soft and quiet. When Sophie woke, she knew exactly what the window was showing. "It's a valley," she whispered. "A magic valley far away." 8
The next morning, the window showed spring again, and Sophie looked closer than ever before. In the corner of the view, near a blossoming tree, she spotted someone small and slender. The figure had long moss-green hair and a robe of woven leaves. A crown of tiny blossoms sat on their head, glowing softly. "Gran, there's a person in the window!" Sophie breathed. "A valley keeper," Gran said. "I have seen them too." 9
Sophie started a fresh page in her notebook and drew the valley keeper. Pointed ears, amber eyes, and small glowing freckles like fireflies. Pip chirped and tapped his little orange feet on the sill. "They tend the valley," Sophie said. "They make the seasons turn." She wrote: blossoms change color on crown. Spring crown, pink; summer, yellow. Every morning she checked, and every morning her notes grew longer and her drawings brighter. 10
Then one morning, something was wrong. The window showed a hot summer field, but the blossoms on the keeper's crown drooped and faded. The keeper looked worried, waving their long arms at the sky. "The seasons are stuck!" Sophie cried. "Summer won't move on!" Pip fluttered anxiously against the glass. Sophie pressed her notebook to the window. "I have watched you every day," she called softly. "Your pattern is beautiful. Please don't stop!" 11
Something wonderful happened. The valley keeper turned toward the window and saw Sophie's notebook pressed against the glass. They smiled and lifted one hand. On their crown, the faded blossoms glowed pink, then yellow, then orange, then white, spinning through the colors like a tiny wheel. The keeper nodded slowly, as if saying thank you. Then the window shimmered, and the season began to turn again. Sophie clapped her hands and laughed. 12
The next morning, the window showed autumn leaves drifting down like golden coins. The keeper stood in the valley, and their crown glowed warm orange. They waved right at Sophie. She waved back with her whole arm. Pip hopped and chirped and flapped his little brown wings. "You see?" Sophie told him. "Watching closely matters.
