High in an old oak tree lives Iris, a small songbird with sky-blue and white feathers and a cream chest, whose endless questions about the world beyond the forest worry her mother, Mama Wren. One breezy morning by the river, Iris finds a glowing sapphire feather that shows her brief visions of faraway skies whenever she touches it. Mama Wren explains that old stories say such a feather grants visions to the curious, and though the flock's migration route is dangerous, Iris sets out at dawn with the feather under her wing and a red berry charm from her mother for luck.
Following one vision after another, Iris flies over hills and wildflowers, meets a helpful squirrel and a wise old turtle who warns her about storm clouds to the east, and eventually discovers a calm valley with a gentle river that could offer the flock a safer path. When she returns, Elder Finch, the oldest and most stubborn bird, dismisses the feather as nonsense, and Iris must find the courage to ask the flock to look at what she has seen rather than simply accept the way things have always been done.
The story follows a curious young bird learning that questions and exploration can lead to real discoveries, and that even the oldest and most respected members of a community can change their minds when they are shown something new. It is a gentle tale for young readers about courage, persistence, and the value of listening to new ideas, and it suits children who enjoy animal adventures with a warm and reassuring tone.

A Chapter from the Book
The Sapphire Feather Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN
In a cozy nest high in the old oak tree, little Iris woke with the sun. She was a small songbird with sky-blue and white feathers and a warm cream chest. Her big amber eyes sparkled as she looked at the world. 'What's beyond the forest?' she chirped. Mama Wren smiled. 'Someday you'll see, little one,' she said, adjusting her twig necklace. 1
Iris loved to ask questions. Why do leaves dance? Where does the wind go? Her crest of feathers bobbed as she hopped from branch to branch. Mama Wren watched with gentle eyes. 'Curiosity is a gift,' she said, 'but stay close.' Iris nodded, but her heart longed for adventure. She wanted to know everything about the wide, wonderful world. 2
One breezy morning, while playing near the river, Iris spotted something shiny in the grass. It was a feather—a glowing sapphire feather! It shimmered like a piece of the sky. Iris picked it up carefully in her tiny orange beak. Suddenly, a quick vision flashed before her eyes: a bright, sunny sky over a sparkling sea. Then it was gone. 3
Iris blinked. 'Did you see that?' she asked a passing butterfly. But the butterfly just fluttered away. Iris held the feather tight. Every time she touched it, she saw a different sky: one with fluffy clouds, one with twinkling stars, one with a rainbow. The visions were short but beautiful. 'This feather is special,' she whispered. 'I must find out where these skies are.' 4
Iris hurried home to tell Mama Wren. 'Mama, look!' she chirped, showing the glowing feather. 'It shows me faraway skies!' Mama Wren examined it with gentle eyes. 'That's a sapphire feather,' she said. 'Old stories say it grants visions to those who are curious.' Iris's eyes grew wide. 'I want to follow the visions! Maybe they lead somewhere important.' 5
Mama Wren looked worried. 'The flock's old migration route is dangerous,' she said. 'But following a feather's visions? That's risky too.' Iris pleaded, 'But what if it leads to a safer path? I have to try!' Mama Wren sighed but smiled. 'You have your father's brave heart. Go, but be careful. And take this.' She gave Iris a tiny red berry charm for luck. 6
Iris set off at dawn, the sapphire feather tucked under her wing. The first vision showed a sky with a golden sun and a gentle breeze. Iris flew toward it, over the forest and past the hills. She met a friendly squirrel who pointed the way. 'Follow the sun,' he said. Iris chirped thanks and flew on, her heart full of hope. 7
The next vision showed a sky with soft, pink clouds. Iris flew higher, over a mountain covered in wildflowers. She felt tired but excited. 'Just a little further,' she cheered herself. The feather glowed warmly. She saw a sparkling lake below and rested on a branch. A wise old turtle looked up. 'Where are you going, little bird?' he asked. 'To find a new path for my flock,' Iris said. 8
The turtle nodded. 'The skies you seek are beyond the lake. But beware the storm clouds to the east.' Iris thanked him and flew on. The feather showed her a sky with a bright rainbow. She followed it, dodging a few raindrops. Then she saw it: a wide, calm valley with a gentle river. 'This is perfect!' she chirped. 'A safe route for everyone!' 9
Iris flew back as fast as she could, the feather guiding her. She told Mama Wren everything. 'I found a safe path! Over the lake and through the valley. No storms, no danger.' Mama Wren hugged her. 'You did it, my brave girl.' But Elder Finch, the flock's oldest bird, shook his head. 'Visions from a feather? That's nonsense. We've always used the old route.' 10
Iris's crest drooped. But Mama Wren spoke up. 'Elder, maybe it's time to try something new. Iris saw a safe path with her own eyes.' The other birds murmured. Elder Finch adjusted his acorn cap and frowned. 'I don't trust shiny feathers.' Iris stepped forward. 'Please, just look at the feather. See what I see.' She held it out, and it glowed brightly. 11
Elder Finch reluctantly touched the feather. A vision of a calm, sunny valley appeared. He gasped. 'I see it! A safe route!' The other birds gathered around. One by one, they touched the feather and saw the vision. 'It's true!' they chirped. Elder Finch's pale green eyes softened. 'I was wrong,' he said. 'Curiosity can teach even old birds new tricks.' 12
Elder Finch announced the new route to the whole flock. 'Thanks to Iris and her sapphire feather, we have a safer journey.' The birds cheered. Iris felt proud. Mama Wren beamed. 'You see, little one? Asking questions and exploring can lead to wonderful things.' Iris hugged her mother. 'I couldn't have done it without your support.' 13
The day of the big migration arrived. The flock lined up behind Iris, who held the sapphire feather high. They flew over the sparkling lake and through the wildflower valley. The skies were clear and the winds were gentle. The birds sang happily. Iris led them all the way to their warm winter home, safe and sound. 14
At their new home, the flock celebrated. Elder Finch placed a tiny crown of leaves on Iris's head. 'You are our hero,' he said. Iris blushed. Mama Wren gave her a warm hug. 'I'm so proud of you.' Iris looked at the sapphire feather, still glowing softly. She knew it would always remind her of the adventure and the power of curiosity.
