Prince Theo lives in a palace with tall towers that scrape the sky, and every night he gazes out of his window wishing for adventure. One clear night he notices a soft glow at the edge of the garden: a staircase of sapphire steps shimmering into being beneath the stars. He climbs it in his brown leather boots and arrives at a floating garden, where a celestial gardener with silver-white hair and golden eyes tends flowers that bloom only at night. She knows his name and asks whether he can be patient enough to care for her night flowers.
Theo is eager but restless. The gardener hands him a small silver trowel and explains that the stars must align just right and the buds need tiny drops of water, one by one, gently and slowly. When the steps stay dark for a night, and then glow only faintly, Theo learns to watch the stars and listen to the wind. Even when clouds hide the staircase completely and he thinks about giving up, he stays a little longer, and in that waiting he discovers a drooping night flower he can help.
The story follows a young prince who learns that patience is not idleness but quiet attention, and that it brings unexpected opportunities and rewards. Young readers who enjoy gentle fairy tales about gardens, stars and small acts of care will find here a calm, unhurried lesson about waiting well.

A Chapter from the Book
The Sapphire Staircase Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN
Prince Theo lived in a palace with tall towers that scraped the sky. He had warm light-brown skin, tousled chestnut-brown hair, and wide hazel eyes full of questions. He wore a deepblue tunic embroidered with silver stars and a small silver crown. Every night, he gazed out his window, wishing for adventure. 'When will something exciting happen?' he sighed. 1
One clear night, Theo noticed a soft glow at the edge of the palace garden. He tiptoed outside in his brown leather boots. There, beneath the stars, a staircase made of sapphire steps shimmered into being. Each step glowed with a gentle blue light. 'A glowing staircase!' Theo whispered. 'Where does it lead?' 2
Theo placed his foot on the first step. It felt cool and smooth, like polished stone. Up and up he climbed, past the palace towers that stood dark and silent. The steps sparkled brighter with each stride. 'I must be above the towers now,' he breathed. 'I wonder who made these steps.' 3
At the top, Theo stepped onto a floating garden. Flowers of every color nodded in the starlight. A tall figure tended them with a silver watering can. She had pale blue-grey skin, long silver-white hair, and calm golden eyes. 'Welcome, Prince Theo,' she said. 'I am the celestial gardener.' Theo's heart thumped. 'How do you know my name?' he asked. 4
'I have watched you from the sky,' the gardener said with a gentle smile. 'You wish to care for my night flowers, don't you?' Theo nodded eagerly. 'Yes! But how?' The gardener pointed to a bed of closed buds. 'These flowers bloom only at night, and they need patience. Can you be patient, Theo?' Theo bit his lip. 'I... I will try.' 5
The gardener handed Theo a small silver trowel. 'First, we must wait for the stars to align just right. Then we water them gently.' Theo frowned. 'Wait? How long?' The gardener laughed softly. 'Until the steps glow again tomorrow night. Patience is the first lesson.' Theo sighed but agreed. 6
That night, Theo returned to his room and tried to sleep. But he kept peeking out the window, hoping to see the glowing steps. They did not appear. 'Why must I wait?' he grumbled. The next evening, he hurried to the garden. The steps were still dark. 'Patience,' he whispered to himself. 'I must be patient.' 7
On the third night, a faint blue glow appeared. Theo raced to the staircase. It was dimmer than before, but he climbed carefully. At the top, the gardener smiled. 'You came back. That is the beginning of patience.' She showed him how to water the buds with tiny drops, one by one. 'Not too much,' she said. 'Gentle and slow.' 8
Theo practiced every night, even when the steps were faint. Some nights, he had to wait a long time. He learned to watch the stars and listen to the wind. 'You are growing patient,' the gardener said. 'That is a great gift.' Theo felt proud. He noticed tiny green shoots pushing through the soil. 'They're growing!' he cheered. 9
One evening, a sudden wind blew clouds across the sky. The steps did not glow at all. Theo waited in the garden, shivering. 'Maybe I should give up,' he thought. But then he remembered the gardener's words: 'Patience reveals unexpected opportunities.' He decided to wait a little longer. He sat on a stone and watched the clouds drift. 10
As he waited, Theo noticed a small night flower hidden under a leaf. It was drooping and dry. He fetched his silver watering can and gave it a gentle drink. 'There you go, little one,' he whispered. The flower perked up. Just then, the clouds parted, and the sapphire steps blazed brighter than ever. 'I'm glad I stayed,' Theo said. 11
At the top, the gardener was waiting with a warm smile. 'You have learned patience well,' she said. 'Now, watch.' She waved her hand, and the night flowers began to bloom. Petals of silver and blue opened to the stars. 'They're beautiful!' Theo gasped. 'And you helped them bloom,' the gardener said. 'Patience brings wonderful surprises.' 12
The gardener gave Theo a tiny silver bell. 'Ring this when you need me,' she said. 'But remember, the steps appear only when you are patient.' Theo nodded. 'I will remember.' He climbed down the glowing staircase, feeling happy and calm. From that night on, he visited the sky garden whenever the steps shone, and the flowers grew more beautiful each time. 13
Back at the palace, Theo's parents noticed a change. 'You are so patient now,' his mother said. Theo smiled. 'I learned from a friend.' He showed them the night flowers he had planted in the palace garden. They bloomed under the stars, just like the ones above. 'Patience truly is a gift,' his father said. Theo nodded, his hazel eyes shining. 14
Theo kept the silver bell on his windowsill. Sometimes, when the stars were bright, he rang it. The celestial gardener would appear, and they would tend the sky gardens together. 'You have become a fine gardener,' she said one night. 'And a fine prince.' Theo beamed. He knew that patience had opened the door to wonderful adventures. 15
And so, Prince Theo learned that waiting can be a magical thing. The sapphire staircase still appears beneath the starlight, but only for those who are patient enough to see it. Theo visits often, caring for the night flowers with gentle hands and a patient heart. And he always remembers: patience reveals unexpected opportunities.
