On a breezy Monday morning, Mira discovers a tiny, glowing star nestled among the daisies in the school garden. The star, which wears a little blue scarf, seems to have fallen from the sky. Mira and her friend Theo, along with their teacher Ms. Penny, decide to care for the star, naming it Lumi. The whole class joins in, taking turns to water it, sing to it, and keep it warm, and Lumi's glow brightens with each act of kindness.

As the days pass, the children notice that Lumi misses its home in the sky. Theo fills his notebook with ideas for launching the star back into the sky, but each plan seems too dangerous or impossible. Then Mira suggests using the garden's bean vines to weave a net that can launch Lumi like a trampoline. The children work together, and with Ms. Penny's help, they create the net. After several attempts, a gust of wind lifts Lumi high into the air, and the star finally returns to its place among the other stars.

This heartwarming story teaches children about kindness, teamwork, and the importance of helping others. It shows how a community can come together to solve a problem and how small acts of care can make a big difference. The book is perfect for young readers who enjoy stories about friendship, nature, and a touch of magic.

A Chapter from the Book

The Schoolhouse Star Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN

On a breezy Monday morning, Mira skipped into the classroom garden. Her yellow raincoat swished, and her red boots tapped the path. She loved to check the flowers before school. Today, something sparkled between the daisies. Mira leaned closer. A tiny star lay in the soft grass, glowing like a golden marble. 1

Mira's dark eyes grew wide. She knelt down, and her curly puff buns bobbed. The star was small, with five rounded points. Its light was warm, like a pocket of sunshine. It wore a little blue scarf. Mira whispered, "Hello, little star. How did you get here?" The star's glow flickered softly, as if it were trying to answer. 2

Just then, Theo came around the corner. His round glasses caught the light, and his orange sweater looked bright. He held his garden notebook. "Mira, what did you find?" he asked. Mira pointed. Theo gasped. "A real star!" He quickly drew it in his notebook. "We should tell Ms. Penny," he said. "She'll know what to do." 3

Ms. Penny hurried over, her teal cardigan flapping. She knelt beside the children. "Oh my," she said softly. "A star from the sky." The star's glow dimmed a little. "It looks sad," Mira said. "Maybe it misses home." Ms. Penny nodded. "Stars belong in the sky. But for now, we must care for it with kindness." 4

The whole class gathered around. The star's light was fading. "It needs water," said Theo. He fetched a tiny cup and sprinkled drops. The star's glow brightened. "It likes that!" cried a girl. "And maybe a blanket," said Mira. She wrapped her scarf around it. The star twinkled, and its tiny smile grew. The children cheered. 5

Each day, the students took turns caring for the star. They named it Lumi. In the morning, they gave it water from the garden hose. At lunch, they sang soft songs. After school, they tucked it in with warm blankets. Lumi's glow grew brighter each day. The children's kindness made it shine like a little sun. 6

Theo kept a special notebook. He drew diagrams of ways to launch Lumi home. "We could build a catapult," he said, pointing to a sketch. "Or a balloon basket." The other children added ideas. They measured the star and counted the clouds. Every day, they searched for a way to help their shining friend return to the sky. 7

Mira organized a care plan. She made a chart with everyone's names. "We must keep Lumi safe," she said. The children nodded. They took turns being star helpers. Some brought water, some brought blankets, and some told stories. Lumi glowed brighter with each kind act. The classroom garden became a cozy home for the little star. 8

One afternoon, Lumi's glow dimmed. The children gathered around, worried. "What's wrong?" asked Theo. Lumi's tiny smile drooped. It looked up at the sky and let out a soft sigh. "It misses the sky," Mira said. "We need to find a way to send it home." The children promised to try harder. 9

Theo studied his notebook. He drew a big diagram of a ladder made of garden vines. "We could climb to the roof and launch Lumi from there," he said. The others shook their heads. "Too dangerous," said Ms. Penny. "We need a plan that is safe for everyone." The children thought and thought. They wanted to help their friend. 10

Then Mira had an idea. "What if we use the garden's bean vines?" she said. "We could weave them into a net and launch Lumi like a trampoline!" The children loved the plan. They worked together, weaving vines and tying knots. Ms. Penny helped. Lumi watched, its glow flickering with hope. The net grew stronger and bouncier. 11

At last, the net was ready. The children placed Lumi in the middle. "On three!" shouted Theo. "One, two, three!" They pulled the net tight and let go. Lumi soared up, up, up! It twinkled brightly, then floated gently back down. "Almost!" cried Mira. They tried again, pulling harder. This time, Lumi went higher. It reached the treetops! 12

But Lumi needed to go much higher. The children were tired. "We need more power," said Theo. Just then, a gust of wind blew through the garden. It lifted Lumi high into the air. The star sparkled and twirled. It rose above the trees and into the sky. The children waved. "Goodbye, Lumi!" they shouted. Lumi twinkled back. 13

Lumi flew higher and higher until it became a tiny dot in the sky. Then it settled into place among the other stars. That night, the children looked up and saw a new star shining brightly. It twinkled in a special way, as if it were winking at them. "Lumi made it home," Mira whispered. Her gap-toothed smile was wide. 14

The next morning, the children found a tiny blue scarf in the garden. It had a stitched heart on it. "Lumi left us a gift," said Theo. They placed the scarf in a special box. Ms. Penny smiled. "You showed great kindness and curiosity," she said. "And you learned that they belong together." The children nodded, feeling proud and happy. 15

From that day on, the children often looked at the sky. They remembered their shining friend. They knew that curiosity and kindness could solve problems and make the world brighter. And every night, the schoolhouse star twinkled above them, a warm reminder of their wonderful adventure.
