In a cozy town with tidy houses and one big garden, Maya wakes up early one morning to find a line of shiny silver footprints across the garden path. Curious and methodical, she grabs her red notebook and pencil to collect evidence. She is soon joined by her friend Leo, whose wild imagination suggests ghosts, giant snails, or space robots. Maya insists on following the clues carefully, and together they trace the footprints to the garden shed, where the trail mysteriously ends.

That night, Maya and Leo return to the garden with a flashlight. They discover a small, knee-high robot with a shiny silver body, glowing amber eyes, trowel hands, and wheeled feet that leave silver prints. The robot is planting seeds in the dark, using a pouch full of seeds and a tiny red scarf around its neck. When Maya and Leo approach gently, the robot seems shy but friendly. It explains through gestures that it works at night to avoid waking anyone. Maya and Leo offer to help and keep its secret, and the three become friends, working together to tend the garden.

This charming story teaches children the value of curiosity, careful observation, and kindness. It shows how evidence and patience lead to understanding, and how friendship can blossom when we approach the unknown with an open heart. Young readers will delight in the gentle mystery and the adorable robot, while learning about teamwork and empathy.

In a cozy town with tidy houses and one big garden, Maya woke up early. She put on her mustard yellow raincoat and green rubber boots. Her red notebook was in her pocket, ready for clues. Outside, the morning grass sparkled with dew. But something else sparkled too: a line of shiny silver footprints across the garden path. 1

Maya knelt down and studied the footprints. They were small and round, like little wheels had rolled through the mud. 'Who made these?' she wondered. She pulled out her red notebook and pencil. Carefully, she drew the shape of each print. 'I won't guess,' she said. 'I'll collect evidence.' She wrote down the time, the place, and the size. 2

Just then, Leo came running over. His ginger hair was messy, and his orange sneakers were untied. 'I heard there's a mystery!' he said. 'Maybe it's a ghost! Or a giant snail! Or a robot from space!' Maya smiled. 'Maybe,' she said. 'But first, let's look for real evidence.' Leo nodded. 'Okay, detective Maya. Where do we start?' 3

Maya pointed to the silver footprints. 'We follow them,' she said. 'But we need to be careful. We don't want to mess them up.' Leo grabbed his small flashlight from his belt. 'I'll bring this,' he said. 'We might need it.' They followed the prints past the rose bushes and around the old oak tree. The tracks led to the garden shed, then stopped. 4

At the shed, the footprints vanished. Maya wrote in her notebook: 'Tracks end at shed. No sign of who made them.' Leo scratched his freckled nose. 'Maybe they went inside?' he said. Maya shook her head. 'The door is locked from the outside. Let's check the windows.' They peeked through the dusty glass. Inside, they saw only rakes, pots, and a bag of seeds. 5

That night, Maya couldn't sleep. She thought about the silver footprints. Who could make such tracks? She decided to investigate when it was dark. She tiptoed out of bed and put on her raincoat and boots. She met Leo by the garden gate. He had his flashlight and a big grin. 'Ready?' he whispered. Maya nodded. 'Remember, we're looking for evidence.' 6

The garden looked different at night. Shadows danced on the grass, and the moon made everything glow. Maya and Leo followed the silver footprints from the morning. They walked quietly, listening for any sound. Then Leo grabbed Maya's arm. 'Look!' he whispered. A tiny light blinked near the tomato plants. It was green and blinking on and off. 7

They crept closer. Behind the tomato plants, something small was moving. It was knee-high and round, with a shiny silver body. Its head had two glowing amber eyes. It had thin arms with tiny trowel hands and wheeled feet that left silver footprints. A little red scarf was tied around its neck. On its back was a small canvas pouch full of seeds. 8

The little machine didn't notice them. It rolled to a patch of soil and used its trowel hands to dig a small hole. Then it took a seed from its pouch and dropped it in. It covered the hole and patted the soil. A tiny antenna on its head blinked green. It hummed softly as it worked. Maya and Leo watched in amazement. 9

Leo leaned close to Maya. 'It's a robot!' he whispered. 'A garden robot!' Maya nodded. She wrote in her notebook: 'Small mechanical helper. Plants seeds at night. Leaves silver footprints.' She smiled. 'This is the best evidence yet,' she said. 'But why does it work at night?' Leo shrugged. 'Maybe it's shy.' 10

Maya decided to say hello. She stepped out from behind the plants. 'Hi there,' she said softly. The little machine froze. Its amber eyes widened. It looked scared. 'It's okay,' Maya said. 'We're friends. We won't hurt you.' Leo nodded. 'We just want to know who makes the silver footprints.' The machine blinked. Then it slowly rolled forward. 11

The machine pointed to itself. Then it pointed to the garden. It made a soft whirring sound. Maya understood. 'You plant seeds to help the garden grow,' she said. The machine nodded. Leo clapped his hands. 'That's wonderful!' he said. 'But why at night?' The machine looked down. It pointed to the sleeping houses. Then it pointed to its blinking light. It seemed to say, 'I don't want to wake anyone.' 12

Maya smiled. 'You're a kind helper,' she said. 'But you don't have to hide. We can help you.' Leo agreed. 'We can keep your secret. And we can help you plant seeds!' The little machine's eyes glowed brighter. It did a happy little spin. Then it rolled to Leo and held out a tiny trowel. Leo took it gently. 'Thank you,' he said. 13

The three friends worked together in the moonlight. Maya wrote notes in her notebook. Leo dug holes with the trowel. The machine dropped seeds and patted the soil. They planted carrots, beans, and sunflowers. The machine hummed a happy tune. Its green antenna light blinked in time. When the sky turned pink, they finished. The machine waved goodbye and rolled into the shed. 14

The next morning, Maya and Leo met in the garden. The silver footprints were still there, but now they knew the truth. 'We solved the mystery with evidence,' Maya said. Leo nodded. 'No guessing. Just facts.' They looked at the fresh soil where they had planted seeds. 'And we made a new friend,' Leo added. They smiled. The garden felt like a secret clubhouse now.
