Shelly the sea turtle lives in a bright blue bay where the water sparkles like diamonds. She spends her days exploring coral gardens and playing with the little fish, but at night the ocean turns dark and quiet, and she wonders what secrets it holds. One evening she finds a small glowing crystal near a rocky cave and places it on her shell, where it sticks fast and begins to shine like a lighthouse, casting a steady beam through the dark water.
When Shelly hears a tiny fish named Pip calling for help, she discovers that her glowing shell can guide lost young creatures home. From that night on she helps a baby seahorse, a lost crab, a tiny jellyfish and many others find their families. The work is hard, and some nights her flippers ache and she longs for rest, but the grateful faces of the little ones give her strength. On a stormy night she guides baby turtles, a frightened squid and a tiny shrimp to safety, and later Grandpa Finn, an old sea turtle, reminds her that dedication and a big heart are what make her light truly special.
This gentle tale for young readers is about kindness, responsibility and the courage to keep helping others even when you are tired. It shows children that a small light, offered generously, can become a beacon of hope for an entire community, and that trust is a precious gift worth protecting.

A Chapter from the Book
The Turtle Lighthouse Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN
Shelly the sea turtle lived in a bright blue bay where the water sparkled like diamonds. She had sea-green skin with soft yellow freckles and large, gentle amber eyes. Her domed shell was smooth and round, and she swam with strong, steady flippers. Every day she explored the coral gardens and played with the little fish. But at night, the ocean turned dark and quiet, and Shelly wondered what secrets it held. 1
One evening, as the sun dipped below the waves, Shelly spotted a strange glow near a rocky cave. She swam closer and found a small crystal, no bigger than a pebble, shining with warm gold and white light. It pulsed softly, as if it were alive. Shelly nudged it with her nose, and it felt warm and tingly. She carefully picked it up and placed it on her shell, where it stuck fast. 2
Suddenly, a beam of light shot from the crystal, lighting up the water around her. Shelly was surprised! Her shell now glowed like a lighthouse, casting a soft, steady beam through the dark ocean. She could see everything clearly—the swaying seaweed, the darting shrimp, and the sleepy fish tucked into crevices. The light felt friendly and comforting, and Shelly knew this crystal was special. 3
As Shelly swam home, she heard a tiny voice calling for help. "I'm lost! It's so dark!" cried a small fish named Pip, who was hiding behind a rock. Pip had silver-blue scales, big round eyes, and a tiny white stripe along each side. He was trembling with fear. Shelly swam over and said, "Don't worry, little one. My shell can light the way. I'll guide you home." 4
Pip followed close to Shelly, his round eyes wide with wonder. The light from her shell danced on his shiny scales and showed the way through the dark water. "Wow! Your shell is like a lighthouse!" Pip chirped. Shelly smiled and swam slowly so Pip could keep up. She led him past swaying kelp and over a sandy hill until they reached his cozy home in a coral reef. 5
From that night on, Shelly swam through the ocean every evening, using her glowing shell to guide young sea creatures home. She helped a baby seahorse find its father, a lost crab find its burrow, and a tiny jellyfish find its family. The light from her shell became a beacon of hope for all the little ones. Shelly felt happy to be a helper, and the ocean seemed a friendlier place. 6
But helping others was hard work. Some nights Shelly was tired, and her flippers ached from swimming so far. She would yawn and think about resting in her cozy cave. But then she would hear a little voice calling, and she would remember how much the light meant to the young ones. So she would take a deep breath, stretch her flippers, and swim on. 7
One stormy night, the ocean was especially dark and choppy. Waves tossed the seaweed, and the young creatures were frightened. Pip came to Shelly and said, "The little ones are scared. Can you help them?" Shelly nodded, even though she was very tired. She swam out into the rough water, her shell glowing bravely. The light cut through the darkness and calmed the frightened fish. 8
That night, Shelly guided a group of baby turtles, a scared little squid, and a tiny shrimp all the way to safety. She swam back and forth, making sure no one was left behind. The storm raged, but Shelly's light never wavered. When the last little creature was safe, Shelly was exhausted. She floated on the surface, her shell still glowing softly, and smiled. 9
Word of Shelly's kindness spread through the ocean. Grandpa Finn, an old sea turtle with a chipped, barnacled shell and kind squinting eyes, came to visit. "I've heard wonderful things about you, Shelly," he said. "Your shell shines like a lighthouse, but it's your dedication that makes it special. Helping others takes hard work and a big heart." Shelly felt proud and grateful for his words. 10
Grandpa Finn continued, "Keep guiding the little ones, Shelly. They trust you, and that trust is a precious gift. Remember, even when you're tired, your light can make a difference." Shelly nodded. She knew he was right. From then on, she never gave up, even on the hardest nights. She would think of the smiling faces of the creatures she helped, and that gave her strength. 11
One night, a thick fog rolled over the ocean, so thick that even the moon was hidden. The young creatures were afraid to swim home. But Shelly's shell glowed brighter than ever, and she led them through the fog with confidence. "Follow my light!" she called. And they did, trusting her completely. Shelly felt a warm glow inside, knowing she was their guide. 12
As time passed, Shelly became known as the ocean's most trusted navigator. Young creatures would wait for her light each night, and parents would tell their children about the turtle with the lighthouse shell. Shelly never turned anyone away. She kept swimming, kept guiding, and kept shining. Her dedication made the ocean a safer, happier home for everyone. 13
One evening, Grandpa Finn brought a group of young turtles to meet Shelly. "This is the turtle who lights our way," he said. The little turtles looked at Shelly with wide eyes. "Will you teach us to be helpers too?" they asked. Shelly smiled. "Of course," she said. "But remember, helping others takes dedication.
