Moon Garden is a collection of fairy tales by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN written for young readers who are ready to move beyond simple stories and into small, imaginative worlds. Each tale in the book takes a familiar idea — the night sky, a hidden garden, a curious child, a talking animal — and turns it into a gentle adventure with its own mood and message. The stories are short enough to be read aloud at bedtime, yet they carry enough detail to give children something to think about afterwards.
Through the tales, readers meet characters who face small dilemmas: a child who cannot sleep, a creature looking for a friend, a garden that only appears after dark. The book quietly explores themes of curiosity, kindness, patience and the courage to ask questions, without turning the stories into lessons. The language is warm and clear, and the imagery draws heavily on moonlight, flowers and quiet places, giving the collection a calm and slightly magical atmosphere.
Moon Garden is best suited to children in the early primary years, roughly ages five to nine, and to parents, teachers and storytellers who are looking for short fairy tales to share aloud. It also works well as an early independent reading book for children who are gaining confidence. Readers who enjoy gentle fantasy, bedtime stories and imaginative tales set in nature will find the collection easy to return to, one story at a time.

A Chapter from the Book
Moon Garden Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN
Mia skipped around her grandmother's house, her yellow raincoat swishing and her blue boots tapping on the path. She loved visiting Grandma Rose, who always had warm cookies and stories. But today, Mia noticed something new: a small iron gate hidden behind tall bushes. Through the bars, she saw only dark leaves. 'What's back there?' Mia asked, her hazelgreen eyes wide with curiosity. 1
Grandma Rose smiled, her blue eyes twinkling behind her round glasses. 'That's the moon garden, my dear,' she said softly. 'It's been locked for many years. But sometimes, on fullmoon nights, I see a silver glow behind the gate.' Mia's heart fluttered. A secret garden! That night, she peeked out her window and gasped. Silver flowers glowed softly beyond the gate, shining like tiny stars. 2
Every night, Mia watched the glow from her window. She wanted to step inside more than anything. Around her neck hung a small silver key on a red ribbon—a gift from Grandma. 'Maybe this key opens the gate,' Mia whispered. But the gate was always locked, and the garden stayed a beautiful mystery. 'Patience,' Grandma Rose said. 'Good things come to those who wait.' Mia sighed but nodded. 3
One evening, the silver key on Mia's ribbon grew warm. She ran to the gate and slipped the key into the lock. Click! The gate swung open with a gentle creak. Mia stepped inside, her heart pounding. The garden was even more magical up close: silver flowers swayed, and the air sparkled with tiny lights. 'Hello?' Mia called softly. A twinkling sound answered her, like wind chimes in the breeze. 4
From behind a glowing rosebush, a tiny fairy flew out. She was no bigger than a teacup, with pearly skin that glowed and long silver hair floating like moonlight. Her wings shimmered like flower petals. 'I'm Lumi,' she said, her voice like soft bells. 'I guard this garden. You must be Mia. I've been waiting for someone patient enough to find us.' Mia's eyes widened. 'The flowers—they glow!' 5
Lumi nodded, her violet eyes sparkling. 'These are moonflowers. They bloom only under moonlight, and only if they are cared for with patience and love.' She waved her dewdrop wand, and a tiny bud opened into a silver blossom. 'But the rarest flower, the Starheart, blooms only once in a hundred years. It needs special care.' Mia's round cheeks flushed with excitement. 'I can help! I'm very patient.' Lumi smiled. 'We'll see.' 6
Lumi gave Mia a small watering can made from an acorn. 'The moonflowers need water every evening, but not too much,' she explained. Mia watered each plant carefully, counting the drops. Some nights, she had to wait for the rain to stop. Some nights, snails crept toward the flowers. Mia gently moved them away, one by one. 'Patience,' she whispered, just like Grandma Rose. And the garden slowly grew brighter. 7
One night, a strong wind blew through the garden, scattering petals everywhere. Mia ran out in her yellow raincoat, holding a tiny lantern. She found Lumi trying to shelter a delicate bud. 'The wind is too strong!' Lumi cried. Mia thought for a moment. Then she gathered fallen branches and built a small shelter around the bud. 'There,' she said, panting. 'That will keep it safe.' Lumi hugged her finger. 'Thank you, Mia.' 8
Weeks passed, and Mia visited the garden every night. She pulled weeds, sang to the flowers, and chased away curious rabbits. Sometimes she was tired, but she never gave up. 'Why do you keep coming?' Lumi asked one evening. Mia smiled, her freckled nose crinkling. 'Because I want to see the Starheart bloom. And because I love this garden.' Lumi's wings fluttered happily. 'You are truly patient, Mia.' 9
Then came a night with no moon. The garden was dark, and the flowers drooped. Mia felt worried. 'Without moonlight, will they be okay?' Lumi looked sad. 'They need light to bloom. But the moon will return.' Mia didn't want to wait. She remembered her grandmother's words: good things come to those who wait. So she sat beside the flowers and sang softly, keeping them company until dawn. 10
The next evening, Grandma Rose called Mia inside. 'There's something special tonight,' she said, pointing to the sky. A full moon was rising, big and bright. Mia gasped. 'The full moon! Lumi said the Starheart blooms under a full moon!' She kissed Grandma's cheek and ran to the garden. Lumi was waiting by a small green bud. 'Tonight's the night,' Lumi whispered. 'If we're patient.' 11
Mia and Lumi sat together, watching the bud. Minutes passed. Nothing happened. Mia's eyes grew heavy, but she didn't leave. 'Patience,' she whispered. Then, slowly, the bud began to open. Petal by petal, it unfolded into a flower that glowed brighter than any star. Its light spread through the garden, and all the moonflowers shone in answer. 'The Starheart!' Lumi cried. 'You did it, Mia!' 12
Mia stared in wonder. The Starheart was the most beautiful flower she had ever seen. Its petals shimmered with every color of the rainbow, and its center held a tiny, glowing star. 'It's perfect,' Mia breathed. Lumi danced around it, her wings sparkling. 'This is the rarest flower in the world. It blooms only for those who care with patience and kindness.' Mia felt warm inside. Her waiting had been worth it.
