The Dream Fairy

The Dream Fairy

Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN

The Dream Fairy is a children's fairy tale by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN that follows a small fairy whose task is to visit sleeping children and guide them into gentle, imaginative dreams. Rather than relying on frights or grand adventures, the story centers on the quiet magic of bedtime: the moment when the day ends, the room grows dark, and a child's imagination takes over. Through the fairy's nightly journeys, young readers encounter a world where dreams are cared for, where worries can be softened, and where kindness is a form of magic in itself.

The book is written for early readers and for parents or teachers who read aloud at bedtime or in the classroom. Its short, accessible narrative and warm tone make it suitable for children who are just beginning to enjoy longer stories, while the fairy-tale structure offers familiar patterns that help young listeners follow along. The story invites children to think about their own dreams and fears and shows how a calm imagination can turn the end of the day into something to look forward to.

Beyond the plot, The Dream Fairy offers a gentle starting point for conversations about sleep, imagination, and empathy. Adults reading with children can use the fairy's gentle approach as a model for talking about nighttime worries and for encouraging creative storytelling. The book fits naturally into a children's fairy-tale collection and works well as a shared reading experience that leaves young readers feeling safe, curious, and ready to dream.

High above the sleeping world, where the moon paints silver paths across the sky, lived Flora the Dream Fairy. She was no taller than a teacup, with warm honey skin, short curly midnight-blue hair, and large amber eyes that sparkled with kindness. Tiny silver star freckles danced across her cheeks, and her delicate shimmering wings caught the starlight. Every night, she carried a small satchel of dream dust to sprinkle happy dreams on children. 1

Flora's lavender tunic, trimmed with gold, swished softly as she fluttered from house to house. Her silver sash held her precious satchel of dream dust, and a star-shaped hairpin twinkled in her blue curls. She loved her job more than anything. With a gentle smile, she would whisper, "Sweet dreams, little ones," and sprinkle a pinch of dust over each sleeping child. Soon, happy dreams filled their rooms like warm sunshine. 2

The children slept soundly in their cozy beds, wrapped in soft pastel pyjamas and warm blankets. Their round faces were peaceful, and their closed eyes dreamed of flying kites, friendly dragons, and candy forests. Flora watched from the windowsill, her heart glowing with joy. "Everyone deserves a happy dream," she said softly, her wings shimmering in the moonlight. But she didn't know that someone was watching her, too. 3

From the corner of the room, a thin, wispy shadow crept closer. It was made of soft, smoky black, with glowing paleblue eyes that flickered like candle flames. The shadow had no name and no friends, only a deep, empty loneliness. It watched Flora's satchel with longing. "If I had that dust," it whispered, "maybe I wouldn't feel so alone." Quietly, it stretched out a smoky hand. 4

Just as Flora turned to leave, the shadow snatched her satchel of dream dust! "Stop!" cried Flora, but the shadow slipped away like mist, clutching the small pale pouch. It darted out the window and into the night, leaving a trail of cold air behind. Flora's wings trembled, but her brave heart beat strong. "I must get my dream dust back," she said, "or the children will have nightmares!" 5

Without the dream dust, the children's sleep grew restless. Tosses and turns replaced peaceful dreams. Little faces scrunched up, and some children cried out in their sleep. Flora flew from window to window, but she had no dust to sprinkle. "The nightmares are spreading," she whispered, her amber eyes worried. "I have to follow that shadow, no matter where it goes." 6

Flora flew high and low, over rooftops and through clouds, searching for the shadow. Finally, she saw a wisp of darkness slipping into a deep, misty valley. A sign made of twisted branches read: "Valley of Nightmares." Flora took a deep breath. Her tiny wings fluttered with fear, but she remembered the children's frightened faces. "I can't give up now," she said, and flew into the valley. 7

The Valley of Nightmares was dark and strange. Shadows twisted into scary shapes, and the air felt cold and heavy. Flora's star freckles glowed softly, lighting her way. She heard whispers that sounded like mean laughter, but she kept flying. "I'm not afraid," she told herself, though her heart beat fast. She was determined to find the shadow and bring back the dream dust. 8

At last, Flora found the shadow huddled behind a rock, clutching the dream dust satchel. Its glowing blue eyes were wide and sad. "Why did you steal my dust?" Flora asked gently. The shadow flinched. "I... I just wanted to feel close to the happy children," it mumbled. "But without the dust, they have nightmares!" Flora said. The shadow looked down, ashamed. 9

"I didn't mean to hurt anyone," the shadow whispered, its wispy edges trembling. "I'm always alone. No one ever plays with me. The dream dust made me feel like I belonged." Flora's kind heart ached for the lonely shadow. She saw that it wasn't mean—it was just scared. "You don't need to steal to be my friend," she said softly. "I'll be your friend." 10

The shadow's pale-blue eyes widened. "You would be my friend? Even though I'm a shadow?" Flora nodded and held out her tiny hand. "Everyone deserves friendship," she said. "And with your help, we can bring happy dreams back to all the children." The shadow hesitated, then slowly placed its smoky hand in hers. A warm glow spread between them, and the shadow's edges softened. 11

Together, Flora and the shadow flew back to the sleeping children. The shadow returned the dream dust, and Flora sprinkled it gently over each bed. This time, the shadow helped, adding a touch of gentle darkness to make the happy dreams even cozier. The children smiled in their sleep, dreaming of friendly shadows and starry skies. "Thank you," Flora whispered to her new friend. 12

From that night on, the shadow was no longer lonely. Flora gave it a special job: guarding the dreams of children, making sure no nightmares slipped through. The shadow became a gentle guardian, watching over the beds with its soft blue eyes. "No one should ever feel alone," Flora said. And the shadow nodded, happy to finally belong. 13

The children slept peacefully every night, their pastel pyjamas and cozy blankets wrapped around them like hugs. They dreamed of flying with Flora and playing with the friendly shadow. Parents wondered why their children woke up so happy. "It's just happy dreams," the children would say, smiling. And somewhere in the night, Flora and the shadow smiled too.
