Treasure Mountain

Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN

Treasure Mountain is a children's fairy tale by Yavuz Demirkıran that follows a journey up a mountain said to hide a long-lost treasure. Along the way, the characters meet helpers and obstacles that test their patience, their honesty, and their willingness to share. The story is built around the idea that what people search for is not always what they most need, and that the qualities they develop on the road matter more than the prize at the end.

Young readers will find a clear, eventful plot with short chapters suited to reading aloud or to independent reading for early chapter-book readers. The tale introduces simple lessons about courage, friendship, and keeping promises, and it gives adults easy starting points for conversation about greed, generosity, and what makes a person trustworthy. The mountain setting and the mystery of the hidden treasure keep the pace moving while leaving room for reflection.

The book is intended for children roughly six to ten years old, for parents and teachers looking for a fairy tale with a moral centre, and for anyone who enjoys stories in which the adventure changes the traveller. It works well as a bedtime read or as a classroom text for discussing character choices.

A Chapter from the Book

Treasure Mountain Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN

Mia lived at the edge of a little village where the snowy mountain always watched over her. One windy morning, she found an old treasure map tucked inside a hollow log. The map showed a secret path winding up the mountain to a hidden treasure. Mia's hazel-green eyes sparkled with excitement as she studied the faded lines. She pulled on her red bobble hat and yellow parka, ready for adventure. 1

Mia's loyal dog Pip wagged his fluffy tail and barked with joy. He wore a bright blue collar with a small silver bone tag that jingled as he jumped. Mia rolled up the treasure map and tucked it into her canvas backpack. Together they stepped out into the crisp mountain air, their breath making little clouds. The snowy mountain loomed ahead, white and mysterious against the blue sky. 2

The path led them through a mysterious forest where tall pine trees whispered in the wind. Pip sniffed the ground and found a trail of tiny footprints in the snow. Mia followed bravely, clutching the rolled-up map in her hand. The forest grew darker and quieter, but Mia never gave up. She knew the treasure was waiting somewhere inside the snowy mountain. 3

Soon they reached the icy caves at the foot of the mountain. The entrance glittered with frost, and cold air whooshed out like a dragon's sigh. Pip's ears flopped down, but he stood close to Mia, ready to protect her. Mia took a deep breath and stepped inside. The cave walls sparkled like a thousand tiny stars, lighting their way. 4

Inside the icy cave, the path split into two dark tunnels. Mia unrolled her treasure map, but the ink was smudged and hard to read. Just then, a gruff voice echoed from the shadows. 'Lost, are you?' said a talking goat with long curved horns and a tufted beard. He wore a worn leather harness with a tiny brass bell that jingled softly. 5

The goat introduced himself as Barnaby, the mountain's guide. 'I know every icy cave and secret path,' he said with a wise twinkle in his amber eyes. 'But first, tell me: why should I help you?' Mia answered honestly, 'I want to find the treasure, but I also want to be brave and not give up.' Barnaby nodded slowly, pleased with her truthful words. 6

Barnaby led Mia and Pip through winding tunnels that glowed with blue ice. His little brass bell jingled as he walked, and Pip trotted happily beside him. The icy caves were full of twists and turns, but Mia never complained. She trusted Barnaby's knowledge and kept her map close. The mountain seemed to hum with ancient secrets. 7

After hours of walking, they came to a frozen waterfall blocking their path. Mia felt worried, but Pip barked and sniffed around the edges. Barnaby smiled and said, 'The mountain rewards those who are clever and kind.' Together they found a small gap behind the ice. Mia squeezed through first, then helped Pip and Barnaby. Teamwork made them strong. 8

On the other side, they entered a magical forest inside the mountain. Glowing mushrooms lit the path, and a warm breeze melted the frost from Mia's cheeks. Barnaby explained, 'This forest is fed by a secret spring, but it has been sleeping for many years.' Mia's heart beat fast with wonder. She knew the treasure must be close now. 9

At last, they reached a huge stone door carved with snowflakes. Mia pushed with all her might, but it wouldn't budge. Barnaby said, 'Only an honest heart can open this door.' Mia placed her hand on the cold stone and whispered, 'I promise to use the treasure for good.' The door rumbled and slowly swung open, revealing a glittering chamber. 10

Inside the treasure room, Mia expected piles of gold and jewels. Instead, she found a sparkling magic spring bubbling up from the rock. Barnaby explained, 'This is the mountain's greatest secret. The magic spring can bring life to the land.' Mia realized that this was a treasure far better than gold. She had been brave and honest, and now she could help her village. 11

Mia knelt beside the magic spring and gently touched the water. A warm light spread through the chamber, and the spring began to flow faster. Barnaby said, 'Because you never gave up and always told the truth, the spring will now flow down the mountain.' Mia felt proud and happy. She knew that determination and honesty are their own rewards. 12

As they left the mountain, the magic spring followed them down in a gentle stream. The snowy slopes began to turn green with new grass and flowers. Mia's village would have fresh water and blooming gardens. Pip barked joyfully and Barnaby's bell jingled. Mia had found a treasure that would last forever. 13

Back at home, Mia told everyone about her adventure. The villagers celebrated with music and dancing. Barnaby became a beloved friend, often visiting with his wise stories. Pip wore his blue collar proudly, and Mia kept the rolled-up map as a reminder. She learned that the best treasures are the ones that help others. 14

Mia often looked up at the snowy mountain and smiled. She knew that the magic spring was still flowing, bringing life to the land. Her red bobble hat and yellow parka hung by the door, ready for the next adventure. But for now, she was happy with her loyal dog and her new friend. The mountain's secret was safe and the village was thriving.
